WHAT'S IN A DATE? It’s not usual for an embassy to celebrate its country’s National Day or Independence Day on another date of another month. For the embassy of the Union of Comoros in Delhi, however, it’s a tradition to host its National Day much later than on July 6, the country’s Independence Day. When asked why, KL Ganju, the consul general (honorary) of Comoros, answered "Every year since 2005, I have been in Comoros to celebrate the National Day.
As I am never here on July 6, I celebrate the National Day at this venue on the last Friday of any month. This year, it was August. Next year, it will again be in July."
