Friday, March 9: 9 a.m. Yolo County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters, Jesse Salinas, will hold “office hours” from until 10 a.m. at Bella Bean Coffee shop, 729 Main St., Woodland; and from 11 a.m. to noon at Lenise’s Café located at 3150 Jefferson Blvd. in West Sacramento. Additional “office hours” will be held Friday, March 16, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Common Grounds Coffee, 2171 Cowell Blvd. in Davis and 11 a.m. to noon at Steady Eddy’s Coffee Shop, 5 E. Main Street, Ste. A, Winters. The purpose of these sessions are to listen to community concerns or questions regarding all of the branches of ACE (Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Elections). The Woodland Senior Center Computer Club, Inc., will hold open labs for any Yolo County resident 18 or older until 3 p.m. at the Woodland Community & Senior Center, 2001 East St. Cost is $1 per session to use the Windows 7 computers and printer; five cents per printed page. Assistance is available. All adults are welcome at monthly program meetings, held at 1 p.m. on the fourth Monday of every month except December. Saturday, March 10: 5 p.m. The Woodland Host Lions are having their 8th annual homemade lasagna dinner to support the Woodland Boy’s Scout Cabin at the Scout Cabin, 515 Lincoln Ave. The Lions will be serving lasagna, salad, dinner rolls,soda, water, coffee and dessert. There will also be an opportunity raffle. The cost is $15 for adults, $7 for children ages 12 and under. Saturday, March 10: 5:30 p.m. The community is invited to join Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County as it celebrates “Giving from the Heart” at the Episcopal Church of St. Martin, 640 Hawthorn Lane, Davis. This event will feature a reception from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with catering donated by Mary Philip, and will include a no-host bar followed by dinner. Throughout the evening, silent auction items will be available for bidding along with a special raffle of a wine cooler fully stocked with an assortment of fine wines. Suicide Prevention and Crisis Services of Yolo County is a non-profit organization committed to providing crisis prevention and intervention, education, and community outreach services to the residents of Yolo County. “For over 51 years, hundreds of dedicated volunteers have been responding to calls from individuals who are seeking crisis support and better alternatives on how to handle the stressors in their lives,” said Diane Sommers, executive director of SPYC. All the proceeds raised at this event will go towards the direct costs of supporting SPYC’s 24-hour crisis lines and its “SOS – Signs of Suicide” school outreach program. Monday, March 12: 7 p.m. The Yolo Prostate Cancer Support group invites men, their spouses and family members to meet with prostate cancer survivors to discuss treatment options, recovery, and side effects. The support group, established in 2007, is composed of volunteers; attendance and informative brochures are free of charge. Wednesday, March 14: 6:30 p.m. The Yolo County Progressives will hold at meeting featuring Dean Johansson, a candidate fro Yolo County District Attorney, at its meeting being held at Round Table Pizza on Pioneer Avenue near Taco Bell and Food4Less in the Sycamore Pointe Plaza.
March 16: TBD. The Holy Rosary YLI No. 122 is holding its Lenten Enchilada Take Out Dinner. Meals must be ordered in advance. Enchiladas are made with cheese, onions and olives. Adult dinner includes 2 cheese enchilada, beans and rice for for $8. Childs dinner includes 1 cheese enchilada beans and rice for $6. Or people can order Cheese Enchilada for $1.50 each; or a dozen for $15. Saturday, March 17: 4:30 p.m. The Holy Rosary Knights of Columbus, Council 2143 will be sponsoring their annual St. Patrick’s Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner. A “social hour” will begin at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Salad, rolls, and dessert will accompany the corned beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. As in years past, the meal will be prepared by master chef, Peter Leon, and his skilled crew of Irish Leprechauns. The event will take place at the Holy Rosary Community Center, 575 California St.,
Woodland. Cost is $18 for adults. Children, ages 6 to 15, $10, and children under 6 are free. Tickets may be purchased through Knights of Columbus members, and at the Holy Rosary Pastoral Center, located at 503 California St. between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday or at the door the day of the event if still available. Tickets can also be purchased at Holy Rosary Church, 319 Walnut St. after Masses on the weekends of March 3, 4, 10 and 11. As always, tickets may be purchased for “dinner’s to-go.” Only 300 tickets will be available.

Saturday, March 24 and Sunday, March 25: 4 p.m. and 7:30 a.m. The Yolo Cabrillo Civic Club No. 26 will have its annual Pre-Easter Portuguese Bake Sale on Palm Sunday weekend at the Holy Rosary Parish Hall, 315 Walnut St., Woodland. The proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the club’s Scholarship Fund. The sale will feature Portuguese sweet bread (regular or cinnamon), rolls, biscoitos (cookies), and fresh malasadas (Portuguese donuts) made by the Portuguese Bakery in Santa Clara, CA. Club members will also contribute homemade dessert items such as cakes, cookies and pies. Advance orders are strongly suggested to guarantee availability of Portuguese Bakery items. Saturday, March 24: 10 a.m. The Rough Riders Motorcycle Club Gateway Chapter invites all motorcyclists and supporters to the Annual Spring Freedom Ride. Sign-ins will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at Iron Steed Harley Davidson, 100 Auto Center Drive in Vacaville. A donation is $20 per person includes the meal after the ride. Raffle and awards will start at 3:30 p.m. The Rough Riders Motorcycle Club is a traditional motorcycle club that draws members from veterans of all wars; and is dedicated to veteran’s causes, POW/MIA issues, and building awareness of those causes and issues. The mission is to support all veterans, veterans groups and veterans’ hospitals. Gateway Chapter’s focus is the Yountville Veterans Home & Hospital in Yountville where each year they fulfill the Home’s wish list of needed items for the residents, as well as spearheading the Yountville Wreath Program with a goal of placing a wreath at each of the 5,700 headstones at the Yountville Veteran Cemetery in December each year. Wednesday, March 28: 9 a.m. The California Retired Teachers Association, Division 83, Yolo County is inviting retired educators from all levels (K-16) to join the next General Meeting and luncheon in the conference center of the Yolo County Office of Education. Coffee is from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and the meeting is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. There will be a guest speaker and the group will also be making Jered boxes for hospitals. Lunch will be served at noon.
