Cancer fighter Scott bulks up strongest men

A local businessman who survived prostate cancer has seen off multi-million pound rivals to become the official supplement supplier for the world's strongest men just 18 months after he set up his company.

Scott McKenna launched G&P Supplements, which is registered in Peterborough, after going into remission for cancer, and his business has proved an instant success with competitors in the Channel 5 Ultimate Strongman shows using his products,

Scott (50) sells supplements from his home in Deeping St Nicholas but won the sponsorship against huge firms with millions of pounds worth of turnover.

He said: “I did not think I would have a hope in hell but I won a three year contract. It was the quality of the products and the taste they enjoyed.”

Scott has been in remission for just over two years now after having his prostrate removed. He set up his company soon after getting the all clear from doctors, then launched his first products in May 2016.

He said: “Having time to myself in hospital, I decided I want to do something back in the fitness trade. I had always wanted to do something but never had the guts to do it.

“But when you have cancer you realise life is too short. I thought ‘let’s try and take on the some of the big brands’.”

Scott has spent most of his working life around fitness and was a sales manager for Herbs In A Bottle.

And he said the strongmen who he is now supplying really enjoy his brand of supplements. He added: “My products have been well received by Strongman. The feedback is that they taste fantastic and really work and give them a positive feel for competitions.”

The next episode of the Channel 5 series is on tonight at 7pm.
