Wayne Sleep opens up about being diagnosed with prostate cancer in tonight's emotional Celebrity Big Brother.

The 69-year-old former Royal Ballet dancer, was shaken 'to the core' in 2015 when he inadvertently discovered he had cancer.

After a hip replacement in 2010, Wayne had his prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels checked for the next few years, then went for an MRI scan and biopsy when they were too high.

Speaking to Corrie legend Amanda Barrie in the kitchen, Wayne discusses his ill health and how his biggest fear was the 'end of his sex life'.

Wayne said: "Funnily enough, my theatre side kicked in and I went 'It's not death threatening if I act on it now.

"I don’t like to think if it comes back, because then ill have to have the whole thing out. And that's sort of the end of my sex life."

Amanda admitted the dancer had a "good innings" and apologised for poking into his private health issues.

But Wayne was perfectly happy to speak out about his battle with the life-threatening disease and said he was now the "ambassador for prostate cancer".

He said: "I think people are so thrilled to have caught it in time that overrides the fact it could kill you."

Wayne found out "by accident" that he had prostate cancer after a routine check up after his hip replacement and revealed there were "no warnings".

The dancer was told he could have radiotherapy, which would have meant several visits to hospital, or brachytherapy where tiny radioactive pellets are put in the prostate to kill the cancer.

Wayne chose the latter and revealed he was out of hospital within days.

He said: "I had an operation overnight. Go in that day, next day recovery, leave the next morning after that. Get on with it."
