Wayne Sleep opened up to Amanda Barrie about the time he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, during tonight’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother.

The ex-Royal Ballet dancer happily spoke about his treatment and how he randomly found out about the disease through a blood test that was for something completely different.

He said that as soon as he found out he wasn’t scared about the life-threatening aspect, but was more worried about losing his sex life.

At least the guy is honest, right?

He said: ‘My theatre side kicked in and I went “it’s not death threatening if I act on it now”.

‘I don’t like to think about if it comes back, because then I’ll have to have the whole thing out and that’s the end of my sex life!

‘That was the only thing that hit me at first.’

Amanda apologised for intruding but Sleep seemed more than comfortable sharing his experience.

He said: ‘I am now the ambassador of prostate cancer!

‘I think people are so thrilled to have caught it in time that that overrides the fact that it could kill you.’

Wayne then revealed he found out by accident with no warning signs or symptoms alerting him something was amiss.

He said: ‘If I hadn’t gone and got that blood test for something else I wouldn’t be here now.’

Wayne tells Amanda that he had an operation as he didn’t like the sound of Radiotherapy (Picture: Channel 5)

The 69-year-old said he had an operation ‘overnight’ and was out of hospital two days later, as he didn’t like the idea of radiotherapy.

He said: ‘They said you can have the whole thing out, and I was like “that’s a bit drastic”, or you can have six weeks radiotherapy.

‘I wouldnt want to be picked up in a van, go to a hospital, sit in a waiting room for two hours, have a bit of “zung” put in me, go home and be very sick or feel very tired for the rest of the day five days a week, for six weeks.

‘I think that would kill me.

‘So I had an operation. Go in that day, next day recovery, leave the next morning after that. Get on with it.’

You can catch Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5 at 9pm.
