LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — A Louisiana woman who won the final showcase on Monday’s episode of “The Price Is Right” said the big moment almost didn’t happen.

Michelle Citizen, who lives in Lafayette, said she planned a girls trip to California with her friend Bella after being selected to appear on the long-running CBS game show.

The day before they were supposed to leave for their trip, Citizen said her aunt passed away.

“The day before, I almost didn’t go,” said Michelle Citizen, who lives in Lafayette. “My husband said, ‘Well, it’s preplanned,’ and, you know, yadda, yadda.”

After some contemplation, she decided to go.

While on the show, Citizen was picked to join contestant’s row, where players guess the retail price of select products for their chance to proceed onstage and play a pricing game.

Citizen advanced past contestant’s row, but lost her pricing game. She then spun the “Big Wheel” later on and got sent to the final showcase.

Included in the avalanche of prizes she won was a brand new Mini Cooper.

“And then they did the finale, and I was like, ‘I won! I won a car! I won a washer and dryer,'” she said while fighting back tears.

Citizen also said she won a year’s supply of Eggland’s Best eggs, a dishwasher and two self-watering planters.

She said she had an angel, her aunt, watching over her the entire time.

“I just felt like my angel was on my shoulder,” she said.
