The state attorney general's office is looking into New Hampshire Port Authority director Geno Marconi, sources have told News 9 Investigates, but no details have been released about why.
Marconi has worked at the Port Authority for decades, but he was placed on paid administrative leave on April 18.
No one from the state, Pease Development Authority, the city of Portsmouth or the attorney general's office will say why Marconi was placed on leave.
The Pease Development Authority said it can't comment further because of the confidentiality requirements of the state's personnel laws. The governor's office is aware and has referred all inquiries to the Pease Development Authority.

News 9 Investigates has learned the attorney general's office is looking into Marconi, but it's unclear why. When asked whether it's engaged in a criminal investigation, the office had no comment.
The attorney general's office did confirm that two attorneys from its civil bureau were at the April 18 Pease Development Authority meeting. Sources said those attorneys briefed the board of directors about Marconi, and that's when his paid leave began.
The attorney general's office said its civil bureau works with every state agency, board and commission.
This is not the first time the Port Authority director has been a part of an investigation by the attorney general's office. In 2007, News 9 reported that an employee of Marconi filed a complaint against him.
That employee's home was later involved in a drive-by shooting. The report said that critics tried to link Marconi to the shooting, but he called the claims "ludicrous," and no line was ever proven by the attorney general's investigation.
News 9 has made several attempts to reach Marconi for comment but has been unsuccessful.
