A LIFE-LONG football fan is hoping to raise £20,000 for Prostate Cancer UK in honour of his grandfather.

South West bank relationship manager, Ben Homans, completed the London Marathon just under two weeks ago, and aims to continue his fundraising efforts with the annual charity football match and sports auction in May.

The charity event will kick-off at Evesham United's Spiers & Hartwell Stadium at 2pm on Saturday, May 17, with FC Homans and Prostate United battling for this year's trophy.

Mr Homans was inspired to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK after his grandfather was diagnosed with the condition.

He said: "I was shocked to find out that Prostate Cancer affects one in eight men.

"My Grandad is still here today thanks to the help received by Prostate Cancer UK and the incredible health service."

The online sports auction launches on Monday, May 12 at homanscfma.weebly.com.
