Emmanuel Fritz Longchamp assumes role as Haiti’s ambassador to the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Emmanuel Fritz Longchamp officially presented his credentials to President Luis Abinader, marking the start of his tenure as Haiti’s new ambassador to the Dominican Republic. His appointment ends a nearly three-year absence of a Haitian diplomatic representative in the country.
Longchamp takes on the role amid a deep crisis in Haiti, characterized by severe political, economic, and social instability, with much of the territory under the control of criminal gangs. His diplomatic mission also coincides with a period of heightened migration tensions, as the Dominican Republic intensifies mass deportations of Haitian nationals.
