Nebraska Baseball loses to OU; Season ends at Chapel Hill Regional
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska Baseball fell to Oklahoma 17-1 in an elimination game at the Chapel Hill Regional in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskers end the 2025 season with a 33-29 final record.
The Huskers offense never found footing against Sooners pitcher Cade Crossland. Crossland struck out 9 batters across 7 innings of work. The Oklahoma offense exploded in the 3rd inning with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and a solo home run to take a 9-0 lead over Nebraska.
Will Walsh and Drew Christo each allowed 5 runs to score while pitching for the Huskers. Across 6 different pitchers, Nebraska only struck out Oklahoma batters 6 times along with allowing 17 total runs.
Oklahoma the 2-seed in the regional will now face 1-seed North Carolina in the regional final. The Tar Heels will have to lose 2 straight games while OU only can afford one more loss before the super regional round.
Nebraska was a long-shot to make the NCAA Tournament before the Huskers won the Big Ten Tournament to secure the automatic bid. This is the 2nd straight season the Huskers made a regional and the same result as last year they finished in Chapel Hill with a 1-2 record. The lone win coming over 4-seed Holy Cross and both losses by way of Oklahoma.
