KATHMANDU: Nepal will bat first in their ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match against the Netherlands in Scotland after losing the toss earlier today.

The crucial match has been overshadowed by major injury setbacks for Nepal. All-rounder Gulshan Kumar Jha and fast bowler Sompal Kami have been ruled out due to injuries sustained during practice.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) confirmed that Sompal suffered a right-hand injury, while Gulshan picked up a knee issue. Both players will miss the remainder of the Netherlands series and the upcoming T20I Tri-Series.

In response to the injuries, CAN has handed opportunities to all-rounder Basir Ahmad and bowler Nandan Yadav, both of whom have been included in the starting eleven.

Head coach Stuart Law decided to test the young talents following the absence of the experienced duo.

Nepal currently sits seventh in the League 2 standings with 10 points from 15 matches. They have had mixed results in the series, managing just one win in two matches against Scotland.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands are in second place with 26 points from 22 matches, despite suffering three consecutive defeats. The USA leads the table with 28 points from 20 matches.
