The Estadio Centroamericano de Mayagüez, is one of the most important sports venues in western Puerto Rico. Inaugurated in 2010 for the Central American and Caribbean Games, it has a capacity of more than 12,000 spectators and features a 400-metre athletic track and a FIFA Quality Pro certified artificial turf field.

Since 2018, it has been home to the Puerto Rico Sol FC club and has received constant improvements in its infrastructure, including executive booths, press room, digital display and irrigation systems. In recent years, the stadium has been the scene of international matches, such as the 2018 friendly match between Puerto Rico and Argentina, and official matches in qualifying tournaments.

Match data

Puerto Rico is on a losing streak, with no wins in its last five official games. The last victory comes from a friendly before the start of the heats, which puts pressure on the team led by Dave Sarachan to score three and stay in the fight for a spot in the next phase.

In contrast, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines arrive at a competitive pace, having won four of their last five matches.

As for the record between them, they have faced each other twice, both in 1996 during the Gold Cup qualifiers, with wins for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in both engagements.

12:05 AM12 days ago

The balance of both selections

The Puerto Rico national team is playing its last chance to hold on to a position that will allow it to qualify for the next phase of the playoffs. Currently, the Puerto Rican team occupies the third position in Group F with 4 points, being three units away from their closest rival, El Salvador.

For its part, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines comes to this meeting with the sole task of complying with its timetable, as its chances of overcoming this phase are nil. This result placed them in the fourth box of Group F with 3 units.

12:00 AM12 days ago

What should the local selection do?

To advance, Puerto Rico has the obligation to win to tie El Salvador with 7 points and, in turn, the Selecta must fall against Suriname at the same time in the Salvadoran capital. Such a draw in points would give advantage to advance to Puerto Rico by the difference of goals.

Possible alignment of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

They come in need of a good result after an uneven start in the heats. The Caribbean team has had difficulties to score points and improve in defense, so this duel represents a key opportunity to regain confidence and stay in the fight.

Davis - Burgin, Charles, Johnson, Lynch - Spring, Thompson, Anderson, Joseph, Pierre - Stewart

11:40 PM12 days ago

Possible alignment of Puerto Rico

Continuing to show signs of growth in the region. With four points in three matches, he still has options to advance, especially if he manages to impose conditions as a local against an opponent who is not going through his best moment. Despite accumulating five games without winning, the boricua team has been competitive at home and will seek to take advantage of this date to get closer to the qualifying positions.

Cutler - Paris, Calderón, Cardona, Ríos - Idrach, Hernández, Rivera, Echevarría, Rivera - Antonetti

11:35 PM12 days ago

This is how the visiting selection arrives

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a typical representative of CONCACAF’s second platoon. After a disastrous start in the qualifying (defeats against Suriname and El Salvador), the team claimed victory by beating Anguilla 6-0. In addition, two friendly wins against Saint Kitts and Nevis and a draw against the British Virgin Islands stand out, results that raised the confidence of the squad.

In attack, the team shows effectiveness -2.1 goals per game- but in defense is still vulnerable (average 1.0 goals received). Despite historic victories over Puerto Rico in 1996, today the set looks less solid, especially away from home.

11:30 PM12 days ago

So the local team arrives

Although Puerto Rico is not among the strongest CONCACAF teams, its recent growth is evident. The team managed to stay in League of Nations Division B and had a positive start in the World Cup qualifiers, with a goalless draw as a visitor against El Salvador and a resounding 8-0 victory0 against Anguilla, which is unusual in its recent history.

In his third game, he fell for the minimum (0-1) on his visit to Suriname, thus accumulating five unwon matches. However, as a local he usually shows competitive performance, and the next duel against an irregular opponent could mark a turning point in his path.
