Croatia Airlines, the country’s national carrier and a member of Star Alliance, has today welcomed its fourth brand new Airbus A220 aircraft at Zagreb Airport, continuing the largest fleet renewal project in the company’s history.
The aircraft, which carries the registration 9A-CAM, has been named Rijeka and arrived directly from the Airbus factory in Mirabel, Canada, Croatia Airlines said on Wednesday.
With this delivery, Croatia Airlines now operates four Airbus A220-300 aircraft, each with a capacity of 149 seats.

This latest addition is part of the airline’s ongoing plan to replace its entire fleet with modern, fuel-efficient aircraft. The fleet renewal programme officially began last year with the arrival of the first two A220s.
In total, five new A220 aircraft are expected to join the fleet in 2025. By the end of the project in 2027, the Croatian national airline plans to operate a total of 15 new Airbus A220s — 13 of the larger A220-300 model and two A220-100s.
The new aircraft are set to enhance passenger comfort, reduce fuel consumption and significantly lower the airline’s carbon footprint, aligning with Croatia Airlines’ commitment to sustainability and efficiency.
With the ongoing arrival of these next-generation aircraft, Croatia Airlines is positioning itself for a stronger future, offering improved service across its European network while proudly promoting Croatian cities through the naming of its fleet.
