DELAWARE COUNTY, N.Y. (WBNG) -- The “R U OK” project is administered by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office as a way to check in on residents who live alone.

Dispatchers from the Sheriff’s Office check in on participants by placing an automated call each morning at a pre-arranged time. If the phone call is not answered, another attempt is made to contact the participant by phone. If the second call is unanswered, an officer is dispatched to their location.

The program is available for county residents at no cost.

Those interested in signing up for the program can fill out an application form on the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office website or by calling the Communications Division at 607-832-5555.
