Arkansas river experiencing lower-than-normal levels
Float season ends on the upper portion of the Buffalo River
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -If you have plans to float the Buffalo River, you’ll want to be mindful of where you float.
The floating season for the upper district of the Buffalo River ranges from March through early June. Due to all of the rain this past spring, the upper district was able to have a longer season than normal.
However, with the dry time most of the area has seen over the last few weeks, the river is now running below normal. Despite this, many in the area say they are going to continue to use the river for recreation.
“We come here for runs, and then after a run it’s super nice to come in the river. It’s very refreshing, and yeah, it seems like really good swimming levels this year,” said Kailey Littlefield.
If you want to float, local businesses advise floating the lower and middle districts of the river.
