CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Hall-Perrine Cancer Center and Mercy Urology Clinic teamed up with the Cedar Rapids Kernels for the third year in a row on to celebrate prostate cancer survivors at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Sunday's game recognized men at all stages of their cancer journey and aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection. Highlights included a ceremonial first pitch by survivors, family activities, giveaways, and an auction of special Kernels jerseys.
Staff from Mercy Urology Clinic were on-site to provide education and support. According to the American Cancer Society, prostate cancer is the second-most common cancer among American men, but survival rates continue to improve thanks to early detection and treatment advances.
