Vehicles at trailheads in Lakes Region broken into, police say
TRAILHEAD WHERE MULTIPLE BREAK-INS HAPPENED EARLIER THIS WEEK. VERY MUCH LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. WE WERE A LITTLE NERVOUS ABOUT SOME OF THE STUFF THAT WE SAW. GOOD WEATHER IN MOULTONBOROUGH IS BRINGING IN PLENTY OF OUTDOOR EXPLORERS, BUT ALSO CAR BREAK INS. WE WERE LOOKING ON ALL TRAILS THIS MORNING. WE HAD HEARD THAT JUST RECENTLY A BUNCH OF THE CARS HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO AT THE BALD KNOB PARKING LOT IN MOULTONBOROUGH. YOU CAN FIND PIECES OF BROKEN WINDOWS STILL LYING ON THE GROUND FROM TWO DIFFERENT CARS. THEY BUSTED THE WINDOW OUT BECAUSE THEY CAN VISUALLY SEE THAT POCKETBOOK IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. HEARING ABOUT THE SMASHING GRABS AFTER DRIVING ALL THE WAY UP FROM MASSACHUSETTS MAKES HIKERS LIKE SAMUEL ROYSTON A LITTLE ON EDGE. UH, NOT NOT EXACTLY GREAT TO HEAR ABOUT THESE BREAK INS HAPPENED SIX DAYS AGO, BUT ANOTHER HAPPENED AT A TRAILHEAD IN TUFTONBORO IN THE SAME DAY. BUT THE POLICE AREN’T QUESTIONING IF IT’S CONNECTED OR NOT. I THINK THEY ARE, BECAUSE IT’S IN, YOU KNOW, KIND OF IN A PATTERN THERE IN A STRAIGHT SHOT OF, YOU KNOW, 171 NOW, POLICE ARE ADVISING PEOPLE TO KEEP THEIR CARS LOCKED AND KEEP BELONGINGS SAFE AND HIDDEN. IF YOU WON’T BE OUT FOR SOME TIME, I WOULD TAKE WHAT I ESSENTIALLY NEEDED ANY ELECTRONIC. I WOULD SECURE THOSE IN THE TRUNK OR IN FACT JUST LEAVE THEM AT HOME. SAME THING AS ANY TIME IN THE CITY. JUST MAKE SURE THE SEATS ARE CLEAR AND, UH, KEEP STUFF SAFE. NOW. ALSO, MILES AWAY IN PLYMOUTH, THREE CARS WERE BROKEN INTO AND ONE WITH ITS WINDOWS SMASHED AND TWO ITEMS WERE TAKEN. HOWEVER, POLICE AREN’T SURE IF THOSE ARE CONNECTE
